Feeling lost? Don't worry I was too

If you've felt like the game throws you into the deep end without a paddle, you're not alone. The beginning can be as confusing as a Rubik's Cube. Many players, including myself, initially misunderstood the game, thinking I could immediately terraform and build my dream island, while in reality it took me a lengthy 300-hour journey (almost 3 months!) of game play till I was able to do it.

In order to get to terraform you need KK Slider to do a concert, and this can be a lengthy process if you are playing without guidance, so now that I decided to restart my island and collected some wisdom, I decided to write this guide to help you getting KK as fast as possible.

To get him to come, we must first fulfil the following steps:

  • Survive the first 3 days & the game mechanics

  • Set up the Museum, Nook's Cranny

  • Hunt for dream villagers like you're on a reality show

  • Recruit Isabelle to team up with Tom Nook (power duo alert).

  • Set up the Campsite and Able Sisters

  • Hunt for more dream villagers and ensure you have 10 Villagers with fenced homes (they need privacy too).

  • Plant a fruit and flower fiesta close to their homes

It sounds like a lot, but it is doable, the issue is time! It takes around 30 days to get all this check points done (at least up to the point of having Able Sisters set up). Well, I am impatient and I want to start building! so for me time jumping all the way because, hey, it's my game, my rules. Balancing work, home, and island life can be a challenge, so I'm all about that chill gameplay. Everyone's got their own style, and I'm just here to build my dream island stress-free and host some epic events. To each their own, right?

Surviving the initial 3 days and mastering game mechanics can set the tone for your Animal Crossing adventure. Here are some key tips to kick things off your adventure:

TIP#1 Get a Nintendo Online Account: Joining a community on platforms like Reddit or Discord enhances your gaming experience. It's budget-friendly, too; I pay $10 a year in a family group, and you can find similar deals on platforms like eBay. Personally, I'm part of Dodocodes and Basically Therapy (check out their Reddit: Dodocodes).

TIP#2 Opt for a Beach Tent Commune! Place your tent, villagers, shops, and campsite near the beach or close to the plaza. It's quirky yet genius – saves on moving fees and sets the stage for future terraforming adventures. Your Bells will thank you!

TIP#3 Wasp-Free Shakes: Stick to fruit trees – they don't spawn wasps. Easy peasy for sticks and wood. DIY Medicine Trick: If stung, chat with villagers for DIY medicine. They've got your back!

TIP#4 Embrace Your Inner Lumberjack: Chop down all trees, except one sapling, one cedar, and one fruit tree per fruit. This not only aids future terraforming but also gives you a 50/50 chance of shaking down items and it creates the perfect environment to spawn Tarantulas (which each sale for 8000 bells). It's a win-win!. And as a Pro tip, if you are part of the Dodocodes community, you can ask for golden tools – faster chopping!

TIP#5 Know what Nook miles to target: Here are super-easy ways to rake in those Nook Miles so you can pay your first debt in less than 15min:

  • Pen something witty on the Residence Services Board

  • Snap a picture

  • Spruce up your passport

  • Engage in a heart-to-heart with your villagers (joking, just go an say hello to them)

TIP#6 Upgrade your house fast if you can: Tom Nook's home upgrades – take now, pay fashionably late. Follow my weed and lumberjack hacks to spawn pricier bugs or sell more valuable items, and you'll be swimming in bells in no time. Why upgrade? Storage, my friend. In Animal Crossing, we all become hoarders – embrace it!

TIP#7 Weed Whackathon! Time to tidy up and cash in! Use the Hay or Leaf Umbrella DIY to turn those cheap weeds into pricier items. Score a 300% profit or use them as gifts for sweet returns from your villagers! Weeds might be the most undervalued material, but they're the fastest bells in the game's early stages – no tools needed!

TIP #8 Get to know your controllers: Smash that B button for speedy dialogues (especially with the verbose Blathers). When you've dug a hole, skip the tool – just press Y to cover it and save that shovel power for the important stuffs. And here's a DIY hack: press A during crafting or customizing to turbocharge the process. These efficiency tricks save you those precious seconds!

TIP #9 Do not break your rocks, mine them!: Here's a game-changer: hit rocks precisely 8 times with a shovel (without eating fruit) for maximum minerals, ensuring those crucial iron nuggets for Nook's Cranny. Sneaky secret bonus – one rock spits out bells, so more hits mean more cash. The trick? Dig three holes in a line, keeping a one-space gap. It's mining magic, the lazy genius way!

TIP #10: The Money Tree Ritual. spot a twinkle, dig, plant bells, and boom, your garden's a cash cow! Pro Tip: Forget going big with 99000 bells; it's like playing the lottery with a 10% win rate. Start smart with 100 bells – guaranteed 3000-bell return, because we're here for low-risk, high laughs. Unless you're bathing in bells thanks to Dodocodes, savor your hard-earned cash; after all, nothing beats paying off debt without begging the community for handouts! TIP #12: Resist the urge to splurge on Nook Miles Tickets – save those miles and snag the pocket organization package first! More pocket space is key in the early days. Your Nook Miles become crucial when villager hunting, but let's save that for the next chapter. For the initial three days, it's all about expanding those pockets!

TIP #13: Boost your bells and expand storage pronto by gifting Blathers 15 budget bugs and fishes. Sell fossils first for a quick cash injection to tackle those house debts. While completing the Museum is an achievement, let's face it – it's a slow burn. In the startup phase, prioritize collecting bells and Nook Miles. Asset-worthy fossils can fetch at least 1000 bells, giving your wallet a welcome boost!

Tip #14: Skip Gulliver for now; save your shovels. Help him later when time is on your side.

Tip #15: Flowers together! Keep all your flowers in one spot to rein in the infestation and crossbreed for those valuable blue roses, each a 1000-bell gem.

Pro Tip: Embrace the night after a day of lumberjacking; hunt for night bugs and tarantulas for a cool 8000-bell surprise and set the stage for a peaceful sleep!

With these tricks, I amassed a whopping 500,000 bells and 11,000 Nook Miles in just three days of gameplay. That's a maximum of four hours invested, spread across two days (1 hour on the first day and 3 hours on the second day), all without time jumping. I hope these strategies help you conquer your island, kickstart the construction of essential shops, and pave the way for KK to grace your island with its musical presence. See you in the next day's blog!
